Welby earned a masters degree in Counseling  from Portland State University and a teaching degree from Biola University. She is the author of Formerly A Wife, and Good-bye for Now (Wingspread), as well as the contributing author to Shepherding Women in Pain (Moody Press), and Chicken Soup for the Soul, Divorce and Recovery.

Welby is the founder of Love Our Vets support network and is a wife of a 100% disabled veteran with PTSD. She has been welcomed as a guest speaker across the country, and on radio and television. She served as a book review editor and has written an advice column. She was recently honored as Woman of the Month by Oregon Women’s Report.
